Upgrade Sony Xperia P LT22i to Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware [6.1.1.B.1.75]
Xperia P was launched along with Xperia S, Xperia U & Xperia Sola. Being middle ranged smartphone, it has got nice specifications as compared to other smartphones within a same price from different manufacturers. The only thing that Xperia P lags behind from those devices is on-board updated version of Android OS. It becomes really embarrassing if your device doesnt have latest & updated OS. But no disappointments anymore! Sony has upgraded Xperia P from Gingerbread 2.3.7 to ICS 4.0.4.
Sony has pushed out ICS 4.0.4 update with 6.1.1.B.1.75 firmware and made available worldwide (Theyve also certified 6.1.1.B.1.90 ICS firmware update which will be released very soon. Perhaps it will be the last ICS update before the arrival of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean).
Android 4.0.4 ICS is much more different than Gingerbread 2.3.7 in every aspect. After upgrading to ICS, youll find a totally new UI, new features, interesting apps & much more stuffs than GB. Some of the cool features of ICS are included below:
- New ways to experience your tunes, images, videos and films with Sonys media applications €“ WALKMAN, Album and Movies
- Extended standby mode, increasing standby time by up to four times (depending on user-profile and data consumption)
- Lock screen with improved functionality
- Resizable widgets for improved personalization
- Improved control of your mobile data consumption
- Recent Apps button for a clear overview of your applications
If your phone isn’t showing Software update, dont worry! You can manually upgrade your Xperia P to Android 4.0.4 using a tool called Flashtool and were here to guide you through the procedure.
Let us checkout how you can upgrade Xperia P LT22i to 6.1.1.B.1.75 Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware.
Disclaimer : Steps given in this article are risky & can cause damage to your device. You should not try to attempt these things if you are unaware of it. Please follow this guide completely at your own risk. We won’t be held responsible if you damage your device while following this guide.
This guide is intended only for Sony Xperia P having model number LT22i . Dont try to implement it on Xperia U / Xperia Sola or on any other device else it can damage your device in anyway.
Pre-requisites:
- Charge your phone at least up to 70% so that flashing process wont get interrupted.
- It is highly recommended to backup all your data from internal memory (includes contacts, messages (SMS/MMS), call logs, Internet APNs etc.). Your phone data will get lost after installation of this firmware (excluding External storage).
Procedure to Upgrade Sony Xperia P LT22i to Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware (6.1.1.B.1.75):
- Download Xperia Flashtool from here. Well be using it for flashing the firmware.
- Download Xperia P LT22i Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware package (6.1.1.B.1.75) from here.
- Install Flashtool that you’ve just downloaded in your computer. For the sake of convenience, install it in root directory of C: drive.
- Navigate to C: –> Flashtool –> Firmwares and delete all the data over there if anything is present.
- Now move Sony Xperia P_6.1.1.b.1.75_Generic World.ftf file in the above mentioned directory.
- Open Xperia Flashtool. Select Flash option (Black Bolt icon) from the top left corner of the tool (Refer to image given below).
- It will ask you to select either Flashmode or Fastboot mode. Select Flashmode & proceed further by hitting OK button.
- On next screen, Firmware selection window will appear. On left side, select LT22i (version 6.1.1.B.1.75).
- In right side of the tool, tick following 4 options (Caution! Dont tick any other option than 4 mentioned below).
- Wipe data.
- Wipe cache.
- Wipe apps log.
- No final verification.
- Press OK. Wait for Flashtool to prepare firmware installation.
- Now, it will ask you to connect your phone. Before you connect your phone to computer, enter into Flashmode on it. To do so, switch off the phone completely. By holding Volume down key, connect it to PC. If done correctly, you should see a green light on the power.
- After establishing proper connection with the computer, flashing process will start. Firmware installation process may get stuck around 93%, which is normal. It stays there for 20-30 seconds and not more than that.
- Once you get Flashing finished message in Flashtool, remove your phone from PC & wait for it to reboot (It may take more time than usual for booting the device, which is normal. So don’t get panic & be patient).

Dear Viraj, i’m following what your wrote step by step, but when i connect the phone to the pc (with pressing Volume-Down), a red error message appears and the Flashtool says “device disconnected”..
My phone currently has a Jelly Bean Custom Rom.. and it’s rooted and has its bootloader unlocked, and has Clock Work Mod installed.
Any advice would be appreciated.
1. Honestly I don’t know how stable that ROM is. But for testing purpose, you can go for it.
2. There is no harm in that. You always have an option to revert back to stock firmware or any other ROM.
3,4,5,6. You’ve to test it yourself.
7. Well that’s quite difficult to put it in here.

Dear Sir,
Since August ICS is working well with my device no more call lag prob there..Thanks a lot !!!
If you have any idea I want to know is Sony gonna release any bug fixed for JB 4.1.2 for xperia P or any other OS in near future.
Dear Sir,
I have an Xperia P but after upgrading to JB it start messing up like call log and notification problem etc., Sony is not giving any bug fixed for that may be they don’t know what’s the exact problem even sometime they suggest to don’t use other apps like viber etc.
Now I have no option to downgrade to ICS back but before do that above procedure I want to know is that safe and will it void my warranty, the other issue I want to know whether after flashing the above Rom do needs to reinstall all apps and data again or flashing wont disturb any data or apps in my phone .
Firstly, it won’t void the warranty. Secondly, it will wipe all the data i.e. you’ll have to re-install all your apps..
Hi. My Xperia P mobile has got the new Jellybean android and i’d like to “downdate” it. Is this possible with this method?

Yeah. It’s possible..
my phone (xperia p) doesnt start up because my pc accidentally hangs when im updating it. what should i do? please help

Dear Viraj
I tried to install CyanogenMOd. after fastboot flashboot.img comm i typed reboot comm. but my sony p doesnt start and i press power + vol key it vibrates and a red light comes, nothing more. please help
Please tell in detail so that I may can look into this problem..
I unlocked the bootloader (sony p) and after that made the following steps to install cyano 10:
Switch offed the phone
Hold vol+ Button and plug usb to boot into fastboot (blue led)
given the comm in comm prompt: fastboot flash boot boot.img (it was ok)
then typed comm: fastboot reboot
after given the command fastboot reboot, the phone didn’t reboot and only thing showing was red led. i mean it did not enter recovery mode. later i removed the phone and tried to switch on but nothing happened. i tried vol + power key it vibrate and again nothing except the red led.
Have you flashed a Custom recovery?
I am afraid i am not aware about. i just done whatever they instructed on the site.
and by the way once when i connected the blue led came and the pc detected the phone. and went thru the same procedure again. but when it came to reboot again nothing happened and red led came.
Well, you’ve missed some steps in between. First of all, get your phone flashed bye a custom recovery like CWM. Use this guide for the same: https://www.androidlegend.com/install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-any-xperia-device-using-recoverx-tool/
Once you install a custom recovery, flash boot.img file (like you did before). Now, boot into recovery mode and flash the ROM. You’re done!
If you still find any difficulty while performing these steps, do let me know…
okay, i will try to flash custom recovery, but the problem is the phone is not switching on to connect to the pc. thanks anyway, i will keep trying and anything good happens i’ll let you know. thanks again.
Battery got drained at a point, put the phone on charge, but SCREEN came out as black when turned on. Till now tried flashing the above firmware, update through PC companion but none worked. When phone is on it can receive calls as well, please help.
is it required to unlock the bootloader before using flashtool?
As far as you’re flashing Official firmware, No..
Do i have to connect in usb debugging mode even if its official firmware?
You’ve to connect it in Flash Mode. No USB debugging is required…
Is it possible to roll back from jellybean to ics?
Yes, anytime..

Is there any difference between
6.2.A.0.400_World_generic and
6.2.A.0.400_Central Europe(1261-8592) jelly bean?
Would you recommend me upgrading my Xperia p to Jelly bean.
Current version is 6.1.B.0.544.
No, both are same. Just released for different regions.
And of course, I recommend every Xperia P user to upgrade their phone with JB…
Thank you!
Hello bro,
I downloaded 6.2.A.0.400_World_generic firmware from that site “http://www.qosmodro.me/2013/01/xperia-2011-official-stock-firmware.html#.Ub3LD9hEm0N”
Total size is 557.11 MB. It is supposed to be a (.ftf) file, isn’t it? But first it came with (.rar) extension, when i extract it, it turns out to be many (.sin) files and some(.ta) files. Did i download the wrong file? What am I supposed to do with them. It really took me so long to download that big-sized file. 🙂
Change extension from .rar to .ftf. That’s it. it should work…
It is still a bit difficult to root Jelly Bean in Xperia P, isn’t it? Is there a easy way to root it. I miss my rooted Ice Cream. 🙁
After flashing to ics through this process, my mobile always losses signal. it won’t catch back the signal. whats the solution for this problem
Whenever your losses the signal, try to put it in Aeroplane mode and then switch back to normal..
i keep doing that, but the problem is that its also not working i need to restart my mobile every time it happens, is it the problem of this ics frimware.
Is jelly bean available for xperia p??
Yes, it’s available.
Here is a link for Jelly Bean ftf (6.2.A.0.400) file: http://www.4shared.com/rar/6T2L3qYy/LT22i_62A0400_JB__Central_Euro.html
You can use the above method to flash JB ftf on your Xperia P.

una pregunta sirve esta firmware para Uruguay??? saludos
same way applies for xperia u ?
Yes: https://www.androidlegend.com/update-sony-xperia-u-st25i-to-official-ics-4-0-4-firmware-6-1-1-b-1-54/
Hello,
Can you pls tell me where in Bangalore I can get/buy Xperia P
preloaded with 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with firmware
version 6.1.1.B.1.89 (or .75)? I have looked at many places but none of them have that version or can’t show since the
box is sealed.
Would appreciate a fairly quick response as I need to buy it asap!
Thanks,
Anant
You will definitely get ICS in any store but firmware version can’t be quoted by just looking at box pack phone.
Anyways you can upgrade it later on.
Hello,
I would prefer preloaded firmware as it would have been
tested by Sony thoroughly on Xperia P.
Can you pls let know what’s the latest preloaded version
of ICS (6.1.1.B.1.54, 6.1.1.B.1.75 or 6.1.1.B.1.89) in Xperia P for India/Bangalore market and which (store)
has got it. Considering their respective release date,
as of Apr 2013, I would expect even 6.1.1.B.1.89 which
got released on Jan 25 ‘2013, should also be available as preloaed in Xperia P.
Thanks,
Anant
6.1.1.B.1.89 is latest.
I am not from Bangalore so can’t tell you about store.
What anout 6.1.1.B.1.75 in Bangalore or 6.1.1.B.1.89 in Dehi?
6.1.1.B.1.89 from Delhi is better
My question is in which store I
can get 6.1.1.B.1.75 preloaded
in Bangalore and 6.1.1.B.1.89 preloaded in Dehi?
Dude how can I tell??
Thank you for posting this firmware.
I realise that this official ROM is labeled “Generic World”, but as with virtually all these files it must have a customisation of some type.
Could you please define the SI numbers for me? (i.e. XXXX-XXXX)
Thanks in advance.
