After lots of rumors and leaks, finally, the most awaited smartphone of a leading company LG, LG G3 has been announced. It is the 3rd upgraded version of LG G series after two successful releases of LG G1 and LG G2. This smartphone is fully loaded with features and highly upgraded specifications, some of which are not new to world because of leaks. For this handset, LG has kept similar design and button positions as that of LG G2 and LG G Pro 2. This smartphone is going to give a tough competition in the market. Let’s see it’s specs and features.
As I said earlier, the design and button positions of this phone is similar to it’s previous versions. It is only only a power button and volume buttons, which are placed on the back side of the phone. There are no buttons in front. Phone is having a metallic look on the back side (made up of polycarbonate material) which gives a brilliant look with its color options. This back panel is not just lightweight but also finger-print proof. LG has tried to give maximum area for the display. Dimensions of the phone are 146.3*74.6*8.9 mm. It has a curved design on the back and all the back buttons are flattened. Design wise LG G3 is very brilliant and is worth the price.
Processor and OS –
LG G3 is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor which is clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Andreno 330 GPU. It comes with 2 GB RAM having 16 GB internal memory and 3 GB RAM having 32 GB internal memory. It has very large expandable memory, 128 GB with the help of microSD card.
As expected, LG G3 will be coming with latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat version and having LG Optimus UI. But, it is a different UI than previous. This new interface has a flatter, circular and less childish icons which suits the design of the handset. LG has also introduced a new feature called ‘Smart Notice’ which provides you notices according to your locations and time such as if you are in office, then it will ask you whether to turn on the Wi-Fi or not, if you are not using an application since weeks, they it will ask you whether to delete it.
As stated earlier, LG has given a maximum area for display. It has 5.5 inch qHD display and having 2560*1440 pixels resolution which is 4 times the HD resolution and almost 2 times the Full HD resolution. It is an IPS display having pixel density 538 ppi. Even Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC ONE M8 have only 1080p display. This can be a great advantage for LG G3. It doesn’t have only large screen, but also high resolution.
Camera and Battery –
Just like LG G2, LG G3 has 13 MP rear camera, but the front camera is 2.1 MP. Unlike LG G2, this smartphone has better and improved camera and features. It has dual LED-flash, OIS + and laser autofocus. It is able to take sharp pictured and can focus quickly.
When an Android smartphone is considered, it’s battery backup plays an important role. LG G3 has 3000 mAh battery which does not differ from its competitor Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2. So, we can’t say about the battery backup now as both the competitors mentioned above don’t have qHD display and such high resolution.
LG G3 supports 3G and 4G connectivity and has bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. If you put the smartphone in quick-circle case, Qi wireless charging can be done. It also has an expandable memory up-to 128 GB.
Price and release date –
LG G3 has been released on 28th May and it’s expected price is Rs. 52,000 (approx $850) in India. Price in India is not confirmed yet.
When we compare the specs and features of LG G3 with it’s other competitors, design-wise and display-wise it stands good. In terms of camera, it does have some good features, but it doesn’t supports 4k video recording as that of Samsung Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2. Also, we can’t conclude about battery backup of the phone. Also it has Android 4.4.2 with some added smart features. So, if features and display is concerned, LG G3 is a good smartphone to buy. But, we can’t give a final conclusion about LG G3 right now as it’s need to be reviewed thoroughly.
