        Hi,

I managed to save the phone by repairing the software through sony.
Then managed to root it using the method and by manually killing adb in the processes. But now i want to reload the updated 4.1.B.0.431 software. Sony PC companion will not let me do it as the bootloader has been unlocked. Where can I get the file to do it through flashtool??

Your phone might have been bricked, meaning that the xperia arc s is not able to boot up and not able to go to recovery. My phone was also bricked and thanks to the video in the link, I got it unbricked without the need of any money.

Simple Solution. May or may not work. Just try it out:
          1) Install Clockworkmod Recovery
          2) Boot into CWM
          3) Select “mounts and storage” & then select mount /data & mount /system.
          4) Now connect your phone to computer
          5) Execute runme.bat as a administrator..

        • Viraj SK

Can you tell the exact error you got in command window? Let me see if I can help you with that or not..

        • Sharan

Is it possible to install CWM before rooting the phone

        • Vishal

          Hi Viraj,

I am getting same error (Permission Denied). could you please guide how to install Clockworkmod Recovery.

          Thx.

        • Viraj SK

Did you follow the solution that I gave to Sharan?

after that process i went to flash tools and flash kernel.. then my phone just went on sony logo display.

    Hello Viraj,
I just wanted to know whether I can follow the same procedure mentioned above to root my sony ericsson xperia arc running ICS 4.0.4 build 587 model of 2011 or do i need to install some other software to do so.
By the way I would also like to inform you that your method of explaining the technical jargons and methods is one of the best available on the net at present. Thumbs up to you and hope you keep the good work going. It is because of people like you that a non technical person like me can also perform and understand such difficult tasks.
Pl revert on my above query asap.
    Regards,

    Raghvendra

It seems that you haven’t installed drivers properly. That’s why your phone is not getting recognized by the PC.

You can install drivers from this location: C:flashtooldrivers.

how to unlocked bootloader..in my arc s????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    • yef

Check the Xperia website. There is a comprehensive, step-by-step list of instructions that helped me unlock my bootloader in 10 minutes flat (excluding 5 additional minutes of downlading files). If you find the information provided hard to follow, then maybe it is time to question if you should really be trying to root your phone. Ask yourself this: what do you hope to achieve with a rooted phone?

  • Hizuka

If in-case I turned my phone into ROOTED using ICS 4.0.3 Firmware (4.1.A.0.562) and came from ICS 4.0.4 Firmware (4.1.B.0.431).

    My question is:

Is it possible to update going back to ICS 4.0.4 firmware (4.1.B.0.431)??? or NOT???
If Possible, still remain ROOTED or just back into previous firmware?

    Thanks in Advance

    • http://www.androidlegend.com Viraj

You don’t have to flash whole ICS 4.0.3 firmware, just flash the kernel for the rooting purpose & after rooting, flash ICS 4.0.4 kernel again.
Your phone will remain rooted on 4.0.4..

  • Hizuka

I can’t download continuously the file ICS 4.0.3 Firmware (4.1.A.0.562). Until 30-32MB only then automatically stopped…

I really need some help on this…
